Street food in Antigua means lobster wraps, fresh ceviche and local guava smoothies
Jumby Bay, the private island resort located off the coast of Antigua has opened the Beach Shack on Jumby Bay Beach.
The Beach Shack serves street-style food like lobster and chicken wraps, and rotis and locally caught fish ceviche. The extensive ceviche bar offers options like shrimp ceviche with cilantro and red onion in a tomato lime marinade, conch with pickled vegetable and basil, and lobster mango and lime.
The Beach Shack isn’t just seafood – meat eaters will enjoy a selection of savory wraps and paninis, including a jerk pork wrap, curried chicken, and ham and pesto panini.
Lighter fare includes smoothies made from local pineapple, guava, and mango, and an assortment of other seasonal fruits and vegetables.
The new eatery strives to provide guests with an authentic Antiguan food experience, complete with decor from local artists.
“We are excited to offer guests a unique taste of the local area with the Beach Shack,” said Andrew Hedley, managing director of Jumby Bay and regional vice president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “We are always looking for different ways to help our guests uncover the local culture and area, and the Beach Shack demonstrates our commitment to offering guests truly local, authentic experiences that perfectly complement the resort’s beautiful, natural setting.”
The Beach Shack is open from 9am – 3pm, daily, for Caribbean continental breakfast and smoothie bar in the mornings, and for a more informal grab-and-go lunch from 12 noon – 3pm.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
