The highly-anticipated overwater bungalows debuted at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica last month. The five bungalows are the first of their kind in the region, and are connected to Sandals Cay, the resort’s private offshore island, via a stylish wooden boardwalk.

Each overwater villa has a unique design based on five Feng Shui elements — Wood, Water, Fire, Earth and Metal. These elements are represented by decor like warm wooden pendants, underwater art pieces, and mirrored and metallic accents.

Additional highlights include expansive glass doors overlooking the Caribbean, a private infinity pool on each deck, over-the-water hammocks, glass floor panels, and stylish king-size beds made from teak and outfitted with upscale linens and pillows.

Guests are ferried to Sandals Cay aboard the luxury boat “Royal Duffy.” Here they will find a newly redesigned pool and pool bar, two restaurants including a Thai restaurant and a jerk shack, plus exclusive amenities like 24-hour butler service, in-room dining and private yoga classes.

The original five villas are booked solid but don’t despair — Sandals has announced that 12 additional overwater bungalows will be available at Sandals Royal Caribbean in March 2017.

The company also has plans to expand overwater bungalows to resorts beyond Jamaica.
