Sandals Barbados Plans Indian Restaurant

Sandals Barbados debuted the company’s first Indian restaurant, Bombay Club.

Sandals Barbados opened in January, at the site of the shuttered Almond Casuarina (the property was also shortly leased by Couples Barbados before being purchased by Sandals). The company worked quickly to Sandalize the property, adding the signature Red Lane Spa, as well as popular dining venues Kimonos, Soy Sushi Bar, Dino’s Pizzeria, and Butch’s Chophouse, which debuted at Sandals LaSource this year.

The new Indian Restaurant offers menu options for vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free diets, as well as dishes with healthier preparation.

Sandals posted a sample menu online. Highlights include:

Appetizers – shrimp fitters with chutney, samosas filled with curried vegetables or chicken, vegetarian kebabs and man chow soup

Tandoori (specialties cooked in clay oven) – chicken, shrimp, or paneer tikka, chicken kebabs with saffron, and tandoori lamb chops

Meats – butter chicken, chicken curry, braised lamb and mutton vindaloo

Seafood – lobster or fish masala, bombay shrimp and shrimp curry

Vegetarian – a variety of traditional dishes including cheeses, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, potatoes and chickpeas simmered in Indian spices

Side dishes – popular naan bread as well as basmati rice, cucumber salads and mango chutney

Desserts and drinks – mango parfaits, rice pudding, cardamom cake, plus yogurt-based drinks and Indian teas
